Jellycat Bessie Chicken
Bessie Chicken arrives in cream that reads as calm rather than plain. Field-bred calm, the sort of creature that has never once been in a hurry. Weighted just enough to sit properly rather than slump. The kind of gift that gets named within the hour.
Sold by A Flying Wish, an independent shop not affiliated with Jellycat or any other brand. Stock is limited to the units we hold.

A cream chicken at 22 cm, Jellycat Bessie Chicken belongs to the part of Jellycat’s range made for holding.
What it is like to hold
The proportions are doing the work here. Slightly heavier through the base than the head, so Bessie Chicken sits rather than topples, in a colourway of cream and red that stays readable in a nursery with the lights low.
Measurements and fit
The height is 22 cm. That single figure is what our outfit listings are matched against, which is why it is printed here rather than a rough category. If you are buying a garment at the same time, it is the only measurement you need.
The collection it belongs to
The Jellycat Characters range is where Bessie Chicken comes from. Ranges matter more than they might seem to with Jellycat, because the character of a piece is set as much by the family it belongs to as by the animal it is. Buying within one range is the reliable way to end up with a shelf that looks deliberate rather than accumulated, and our outfits are sized to follow.
Made from, and looking after it
Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Kept out of direct sunlight the colour holds for years. Fading is the one kind of wear that cannot be undone, and a sunny windowsill does it faster than handling ever will.
Choosing it as a gift
It reads as everyday companion, which makes it an easy choice for a birthday and no particular reason at all, and it is one of the pieces people come back for a second time once they have given the first.
About A Flying Wish
What we are trying to build is a shop where a companion and something for it to wear can be chosen in the same visit without any measuring anxiety. Bessie Chicken is part of that, sized and banded so the outfit pages can be read against it directly.
