Jellycat Sensational Seafood Lobster

Jellycat Sensational Seafood Lobster is a red lobster from Jellycat, and it stands 14 cm tall.

What it is like to hold

Sensational Seafood Lobster is made from the dense, brushed fabric Jellycat uses across its animals. The colouring is red, deepest along the back and lighter underneath, which is what gives the shape its softness in photographs and in a dim room.

How big it is

At 14 cm, Sensational Seafood Lobster is easy to size up against an outfit. Measure your own plush from the base to the top of the head and compare the two numbers directly. The size guide carries the full table, and every garment we make names the height it is cut for.

Where it sits in the Jellycat range

This one comes from the Sensational Seafood range. Jellycat design in ranges rather than one piece at a time, and it shows: the proportions, the face and the finish carry across, which is why collectors tend to buy two or three from the same family rather than one from each. Our own outfits are cut to centimetre bands for the same reason, so a piece bought a year later still has something in the wardrobe that fits it.

Fabric and washing

Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Kept out of direct sunlight the colour holds for years. Fading is the one kind of wear that cannot be undone, and a sunny windowsill does it faster than handling ever will.

Who it is for

Filed under everyday companion, and chosen here for a birthday and no particular reason at all more than anything else. It reads as considered rather than expensive, which is usually the harder thing to get right in a gift.

About A Flying Wish

A Flying Wish is a small operation and it shows in the useful way: orders are packed by the people who made the garments, and the plush, Sensational Seafood Lobster among them, are checked rather than shipped straight from a box. The outfits are ours, the plush are Jellycat’s, and the sizing between them is the part we take care of.
