Jellycat Prince Penguin

Jellycat Prince Penguin stands 26 cm tall, a black penguin with the quiet heft Jellycat is known for.

What it is like to hold

Prince Penguin has the quality that is hard to photograph and obvious in the hand, which is evenness. No thin patches, no hard filling anywhere, and a colourway of black and white carried right through to the underside rather than stopping where it stops being visible.

Measurements and fit

The measurement is 26 cm. Worth knowing to the centimetre rather than roughly, because our outfits are listed by the height they are cut for and a few centimetres is the difference between a dress that closes and one that does not. Measure base to head, and the size guide will tell you the rest.

Part of the Christmas Characters range

This one comes from the Christmas Characters range. Jellycat design in ranges rather than one piece at a time, and it shows: the proportions, the face and the finish carry across, which is why collectors tend to buy two or three from the same family rather than one from each. Our own outfits are cut to centimetre bands for the same reason, so a piece bought a year later still has something in the wardrobe that fits it.

Fabric and washing

Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Kept out of direct sunlight the colour holds for years. Fading is the one kind of wear that cannot be undone, and a sunny windowsill does it faster than handling ever will.

Suitability

We list it under everyday companion, and it is picked here mostly for Christmas and a birthday. Big enough to notice when it is unwrapped, and not so big that it has to find a permanent home the same day.

Where this sits in our shop

Two things happen in this shop. We make outfits for plush companions, and we stock the companions themselves, Prince Penguin included. Keeping both under one roof is the only way to be certain that what we sell to dress a plush actually fits the plush we sold.
