Jellycat Nessie
Nessie comes in a green borrowed from leaves rather than paint. It has presence, which is a strange thing to say about something this soft, and true. The colour runs right through, underside included. Easy to give and difficult to hand back.
Sold by A Flying Wish, an independent shop not affiliated with Jellycat or any other brand. Stock is limited to the units we hold.
Price range: $59.95 through $98.95

A green sea creature at 35 cm, Jellycat Nessie belongs to the part of Jellycat’s range made for holding.
What it is like to hold
Pick Nessie up and the weight is the first thing you notice: enough to feel substantial, not enough to be awkward in a child’s arms. The colourway runs green, and the pile is brushed in one direction so it catches the light.
Size and fit
Nessie measures 35 cm. Heights are taken from the base to the top of the head rather than the tip of an ear, which is the figure the size guide lists, so a shelf or a cot space can be judged before it arrives.
Where it sits in the Jellycat range
Nessie is part of Jellycat Characters. If you have one already, the rest of that range is the obvious place to look next, and the centimetre sizes overlap often enough that an outfit bought for one will usually fit another. We keep the range listed together for exactly that reason, and the size guide has the full table of what fits what.
Fabric and washing
Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Washing by hand keeps the nap on the fabric, which is the part a machine cycle flattens first, and it is the difference between a plush that still looks new after two years and one that does not.
Who it is for
The piece leans everyday companion, and it has been chosen most often here for a birthday and no particular reason at all. It wraps well, which matters more than it sounds when something is being given rather than kept.
Why we stock it
What we are trying to build is a shop where a companion and something for it to wear can be chosen in the same visit without any measuring anxiety. Nessie is part of that, sized and banded so the outfit pages can be read against it directly.
