Jellycat Birdling Puffin
Birdling Puffin comes in a black that reads as velvet rather than shadow. It keeps the slow rhythm of deep water, where light arrives late and gently. The colour runs right through, underside included. Easy to give and difficult to hand back.
Sold by A Flying Wish, an independent shop not affiliated with Jellycat or any other brand. Stock is limited to the units we hold.

Jellycat Birdling Puffin stands 11 cm tall, a black puffin with the quiet heft Jellycat is known for.
What it is like to hold
Birdling Puffin has the quality that is hard to photograph and obvious in the hand, which is evenness. No thin patches, no hard filling anywhere, and a colourway of black and white carried right through to the underside rather than stopping where it stops being visible.
Size and fit
At 11 cm, Birdling Puffin is easy to size up against an outfit. Measure your own plush from the base to the top of the head and compare the two numbers directly. The size guide carries the full table, and every garment we make names the height it is cut for.
Where it sits in the Jellycat range
Within Jellycat’s catalogue Birdling Puffin belongs to Birdling, and that is the useful thing to know when you are choosing a second one. A range shares its finish and its proportions, so pieces from the same family photograph well together and, more practically, often share a centimetre band, which means they can share a wardrobe.
Made from, and looking after it
Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. That is the whole of it. It is worth following, because heat is what turns a soft plush into a stiff one, and no amount of brushing afterwards brings the pile back.
Choosing it as a gift
Filed under everyday companion, and chosen here for a birthday and no particular reason at all more than anything else. It reads as considered rather than expensive, which is usually the harder thing to get right in a gift.
Why we stock it
Everything we make is built to celebrate the stories people share with the companions they keep. Birdling Puffin sits on our shelves for that reason, and our own outfits are cut to fit it and the rest of the plush in its band. The size guide has the full table.
