Jellycat Beatrice Butterfly

There is a stillness to Jellycat Beatrice Butterfly, a pastel multi butterfly of 32 cm that asks to be picked up.

The piece itself

Beatrice Butterfly is made from the dense, brushed fabric Jellycat uses across its animals. The colouring is pastel multi, deepest along the back and lighter underneath, which is what gives the shape its softness in photographs and in a dim room.

How big it is

The measurement is 32 cm. Worth knowing to the centimetre rather than roughly, because our outfits are listed by the height they are cut for and a few centimetres is the difference between a dress that closes and one that does not. Measure base to head, and the size guide will tell you the rest.

Where it sits in the Jellycat range

This one comes from the Jellycat Characters range. Jellycat design in ranges rather than one piece at a time, and it shows: the proportions, the face and the finish carry across, which is why collectors tend to buy two or three from the same family rather than one from each. Our own outfits are cut to centimetre bands for the same reason, so a piece bought a year later still has something in the wardrobe that fits it.

Fabric and washing

Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Kept out of direct sunlight the colour holds for years. Fading is the one kind of wear that cannot be undone, and a sunny windowsill does it faster than handling ever will.

Suitability

As a gift it works for a birthday and no particular reason at all, and it belongs to the everyday companion side of what we stock. If you are buying for someone who already has one or two, the range it comes from is worth a look for something that will sit beside them.

Where this sits in our shop

A Flying Wish began with outfits and grew into the plush that wear them. Beatrice Butterfly is stocked here because it fits that idea, and because the pieces we design are made to last as long as the companion they are made for.
