Jellycat Bashful Bat

Jellycat Bashful Bat is 18 cm of black bat, and the weight of it is the first thing anyone notices.

A closer look

What distinguishes Bashful Bat is the texture. It is the same everywhere you touch it, with no hard seams and no stiff patches, and the colourway of black is matched across the ears and paws rather than left to chance at the cutting stage.

Size and fit

The height is 18 cm. That single figure is what our outfit listings are matched against, which is why it is printed here rather than a rough category. If you are buying a garment at the same time, it is the only measurement you need.

Part of the Bashful range

The Bashful range is where Bashful Bat comes from. Ranges matter more than they might seem to with Jellycat, because the character of a piece is set as much by the family it belongs to as by the animal it is. Buying within one range is the reliable way to end up with a shelf that looks deliberate rather than accumulated, and our outfits are sized to follow.

Made from, and looking after it

Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. That is the whole of it. It is worth following, because heat is what turns a soft plush into a stiff one, and no amount of brushing afterwards brings the pile back.

Who it is for

Its register is everyday companion, which puts it squarely in the Halloween and a birthday bracket. It is also one of the safer choices when you do not know the room it is going into, because it does not insist on a colour scheme.

Why we stock it

A Flying Wish is a small operation and it shows in the useful way: orders are packed by the people who made the garments, and the plush, Bashful Bat among them, are checked rather than shipped straight from a box. The outfits are ours, the plush are Jellycat’s, and the sizing between them is the part we take care of.
