Jellycat Huggady Hippo

Jellycat Huggady Hippo arrives as a grey hippo, 32 cm from base to ear tip, soft the whole way through.

What it is like to hold

Pick Huggady Hippo up and the weight is the first thing you notice: enough to feel substantial, not enough to be awkward in a child’s arms. The colourway runs grey, and the pile is brushed in one direction so it catches the light.

How big it is

The measurement is 32 cm. Worth knowing to the centimetre rather than roughly, because our outfits are listed by the height they are cut for and a few centimetres is the difference between a dress that closes and one that does not. Measure base to head, and the size guide will tell you the rest.

Part of the Huggady range

Within Jellycat’s catalogue Huggady Hippo belongs to Huggady, and that is the useful thing to know when you are choosing a second one. A range shares its finish and its proportions, so pieces from the same family photograph well together and, more practically, often share a centimetre band, which means they can share a wardrobe.

Fabric and washing

Polyester fabric with polyester filling. Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Spot cleaning handles most of what happens day to day, and a full wash is rarely needed more than once or twice a year unless it has been somewhere muddy.

Choosing it as a gift

We list it under everyday companion, and it is picked here mostly for a birthday and no particular reason at all. Big enough to notice when it is unwrapped, and not so big that it has to find a permanent home the same day.

Why we stock it

Two things happen in this shop. We make outfits for plush companions, and we stock the companions themselves, Huggady Hippo included. Keeping both under one roof is the only way to be certain that what we sell to dress a plush actually fits the plush we sold.
