Red Bear Varsity Knit Fits Jellycat 18cm Plush

A red knitted sweater with cream varsity stripes at the cuffs and hem and a small bear worked at the chest. The stripes are knitted into the ribbing rather than sewn on afterwards, which is what holds them straight where the rib gathers. A knit sweater for stuffed animal shapes has to clear a wide head, and the ribbed neck here stretches and recovers properly. The bear at the chest is worked in the same colourwork as the stripes, so nothing is applied on top of the fabric. Wash it flat, reshape it damp, and never hang a wet knit.

Will it fit your plush?

Measure your friend from the top of the head to the bottom, sitting or standing as they normally do. This one is cut for a plush about 18cm tall. It is designed around Jellycat proportions and fits other plush of the same height just as well.

Getting it on

Each piece goes on separately and can be worn alone or mixed with the rest of the wardrobe. Nothing here is tight enough to squash a soft plush, and nothing is loose enough to slide off.

Looking after it

Hand wash cool and never wring the knit. Press the water out between two towels, reshape it on a flat surface and let it dry there, hanging a knit while it is heavy with water is what stretches it out of shape.
