Lucky Red Knit Sweater Fits Jellycat 18cm Plush

A red knitted sweater with gold lettering worked across the chest reading good fortune, ribbed at the cuffs and the hem. Gold on red is the hardest pairing to knit cleanly, because a pale yarn carried behind a dark one shows through, so the lettering here is worked with short floats and a tight tension. A squishmallows sweater has to stretch over a very round body, and this knit does. The lettering sits centred and level, which sounds obvious and is the first thing to go wrong when a knit is worked in the round. Wash it flat and dry it flat.

Measure your friend from the top of the head to the bottom, sitting or standing as they normally do. This one is cut for a plush about 18cm tall. It is designed around Jellycat proportions and fits other plush of the same height just as well.

Getting it on

Pull it over the head first, then guide each arm through. The knit has enough give to pass over a wide head and spring back. Nothing here is tight enough to squash a soft plush, and nothing is loose enough to slide off.

Looking after it

Hand wash cool and never wring the knit. Press the water out between two towels, reshape it on a flat surface and let it dry there, hanging a knit while it is heavy with water is what stretches it out of shape.
