Black and white gingham overalls with a bib front and a checked bow at the ear, worn over a cream top. The check is woven rather than printed, so the squares stay true where the bib seams meet instead of drifting off-grain. Dressing a build a bear with overalls at keyring size is easiest with a bib cut like this, no waistband to place and nothing to fasten at the front. The bow lifts off. Legs through first, then the bib, then the straps.

Measure your friend from the top of the head to the bottom, sitting or standing as they normally do. This one is cut for a plush about 15cm tall, our 15 cm size. It is designed around Jellycat proportions and fits other plush of the same height just as well.

Getting it on

Each piece goes on separately, so the set can be split up and worn with the rest of the wardrobe. Nothing here is tight enough to squash a soft plush, and nothing is loose enough to slide off.

Looking after it

Hand wash cool with a mild detergent, reshape while damp and dry flat away from direct heat. The cotton blend keeps its shape best when it is not wrung out.
